Order and Contact Information
Availability and DeliveryWe usually create (or "run") sets of parts for each of the instruments we offer at least once per year. Therefore, we often have instrument parts in-stock and available for immediate shipment. More often, however, part sets will sell out quickly (sometimes before a particular run is even completed); if we are temporarily out of the parts you wish to order you will be notified of the date we expect the next run to be completed. Should you order a finished instrument you must allow time for assembly and decoration. Most of our custom, finished instruments take one year from the order date to complete.
PaymentWe accept the Visa, MasterCard and Discover Card as well as personal checks.
A simple phone call, fax or E-mail telling us what you'd like to order and how you wish to pay will get the ordering process under way. Once you place a 25% deposit we will begin work on your finished instrument or reserve a set of parts for you. When work is approximately 50% complete on your finished instrument we will ask for another 25% of the original balance due. You may make additional payments from that point on or pay the remaining balance due upon completion.
Shipping InformationWe professionally package your kit for delivery here in the Stonington shop. The price of your instrument or parts set includes packaging. We work with several transportation companies that know our products. They will handle your instrument carefully, and delivery will be made in a timely fashion at a very reasonable rate. You are responsible for transportation charges. You may pay the shipper directly upon receipt of your instrument or we can add the freight charge to your final invoice. You will be notified before delivery to the ultimate destination is attempted; someone must be at that destination in order to receive the shipment.
The Stonington ShopWe welcome visitors to our shop in Stonington, CT. It is easy to get to this small seaside village by car. Take the Stonington Borough exit 91 off I-95. Traveling on 95 N you will take a right at the end of the ramp. If you are getting off 95 S you will want to take a left at the end of the ramp. Once you turn off the ramp you will go a short distance and then turn left onto North Main St. Follow North Main St. to its very end and you will see a brick building with a glass tower in front at the corner of North Main St. and Cutler St. Trains with stations in Mystic, CT or Westerly, RI run past the shop and taxis from either station will find us. Our address is 65 Cutler St., Stonington, CT 06378.
You are free to pick up your instrument here, but in that case you will have to pay the appropriate CT sales tax. We do not collect out-of-state sales taxes. If you are purchasing a parts set for resale you will need to provide a copy of your sales and use tax permit(s).
GuaranteeYou are entitled to a superb musical instrument. We have never had a finished instrument refused, but if you are dissatisfied with yours we will do everything possible to make it suitable for you. If we are unsuccessful in that attempt you will be entitled to a full refund. We must charge for inspection, replacement or repair of parts (if not defective) and transportation/shipping related to warranty claims, all of which will be deducted from your total refund. You should notify us of any problems with your finished instrument within 30 days of delivery or pick-up.
All of our part sets are guaranteed against shortage or defect, but you must make your claim within one year of receipt. You may be required to show proof of the defect or to return the parts. Parts lost or damaged by the customer can be replaced at the cost of those parts to ZHI.
