SOLD: Zuckermann Shop-Made Concert Single Manual Harpsichord

Owen Cummings demonstrates the depth of tonal variety available on this 1970s instrument. The Concert model has a useful range for all music, through and including late 18th-century repertoire. This harpsichord is ready for shipment with the lush French sound that made the Concert model famous.

We are selling this beautiful harpsichord for a client that moved out of the country. It was recently finished for them when they were suddenly transferred abroad for work. The Zuckermann Concert Single is our only single-manual harpsichord with a 5-octave range on a single manual GG-g’’’. In its original form—as designed by David J. Way (late owner of Zuckermann)—this harpsichord would have had a three-choir disposition. This instrument, circa 1975, first came to us as an unfinished kit. When we installed the soundboard, we decided to make it a 2 x 8’ with current production jacks and a new, leather buff stop. We also upgraded the stand and music desk to our current designs in white oak. It is pitched at A415 but can be tuned to A440. The newly painted Flemish decoration was done for the client by Tatyana Nivina. This harpsichord is concert-ready and can be tried out on our showroom floor in Stonington.
