Fulfillment, Return & Cancellation Policies
Last Updated: August 2026
Thank you for supporting our workshop. Your purchase helps preserve the tradition of historical keyboard instrument building and contributes to the continued growth of the early music community. Please take a moment to review the following policies before placing your order. By placing an order with Zuckermann Harpsichords International, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these policies.
Fulfillment Policy
Many of our products are custom manufactured and require production before shipment. For these items, the inventory quantity displayed on our website reflects the availability of the materials required to build the product, rather than completed units that are ready for immediate shipment.
Orders are fulfilled according to our current production schedule and the nature and complexity of each project. Estimated lead times are provided in the product description for reference. While we make every effort to meet these estimates, production schedules may change due to workload, material availability, production requirements, supplier delays, or other manufacturing circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
If the expected lead time changes after an order has been placed, we will notify you as soon as reasonably possible with an updated estimated completion and shipping timeframe.
Estimated lead times are provided as good-faith estimates only and are not guaranteed shipping dates. By placing an order, you acknowledge that production schedules may change and that estimated lead times may be adjusted accordingly.
Return Policy
Only smaller standard-stock items are eligible for return, and only within 14 days of delivery.
To qualify for a return, items must:
Be unopened, unused, and in their original packaging.
Be returned within 14 days of delivery.
The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs.
Eligible returns are subject to a 30% restocking fee, calculated on the total invoice amount, including shipping, crating, and packaging charges.
Custom projects—including Kits, Finished Instruments, and all other custom-manufactured items—are made specifically for each customer and are therefore not eligible for return.
Cancellation Policy
Orders for Kits, Finished Instruments, and other custom-manufactured items (collectively referred to as custom projects) may be cancelled only in accordance with the following policy.
Production is considered to have commenced upon receipt of any payment ranging from the minimum required 25% deposit through full payment. Once production has commenced, cancelled orders are subject to a 40% cancellation fee.
The cancellation fee is calculated on the total invoice amount, including shipping, crating, and packaging charges. These charges reflect labor, materials, engineering, manufacturing preparation, packaging, and other order-related costs that are incurred during the production and fulfillment process.
Questions
If you have any questions regarding production schedules, estimated lead times, returns, or cancellations, please contact us before placing your order. We are always happy to discuss your project and answer any questions so that expectations are clear before production begins.
Policy Updates
These policies may be updated from time to time without prior notice. Orders are governed by the version of these policies that is in effect on the date the order is placed. Any exception to these policies must be agreed to in writing by Zuckermann Harpsichords International before it becomes effective. These policies are intended to ensure fair treatment for both our customers and our workshop while allowing us to continue building historically inspired instruments for the early music community.
