SOLD: Zuckermann Italian Harpsichord
A fine example of the Zuckermann Italian III with case in yellow cedar and keyboard in boxwood with boxwood arcades. These workhorse harpsichords have been at the center of many early music ensembles for decades. This example, from 1981, has both the typical short-octave tuning and split sharps which allow the player to have the complete chromatic range down to C and diatonic range down to GG. It is light enough to be carried under one’s arm after lifting it off the stand. Despite its small size and weight, it has a powerful voice that will be heard at the back of the hall over the orchestra. It has the traditional 2x8’ disposition with a lever in the keywell.
We recently refurbished this harpsichord in our Stonington workshop and it is concert-ready with new strings, dampers and voicing. The delicate soundboard painting is professionally painted.
