Zuckermann Blanchet/Taskin Model

Joyce Chen plays the Chaconne from Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre’s “Suite in D minor” (1707).

This instrument, inspired by Blanchet and Taskin, is made in the tradition of the large French harpsichords of the 18th century. The tone of our French Double is refined and colorful and is well known for its majestic bass. While the range of 63 notes (FF-g''') permits the performance of virtually the entire harpsichord repertoire, this instrument is obviously the best choice for playing late French music. Disposition: 2x8', 1x4', buff.

This particular harpsichord is available for immediate sale or lease and it has already been used in numerous recordings and live performances. It was built by Richard Auber in our Stonington shop, as the prototype of the redesigned David Jacques Way French double, a model which has distinguished itself for decades for its powerful resonance and exquisite touch. The case painting in traditional milk paint is refined in its austerity and the soundboard painting by Tatyana Nivina is replete with examples her mastery of subjects from birds to flowers. It is available to try on our showroom floor in Stonington.
